HOW TO POST LONGER MOVIESMany times movies are too large for a post, the forum has a server limit of 9.77mb per post. So In the case of having a file larger then 9.77mb you need to split it up into chunks that will fall under the file limit.
One of the more simplest ways and free is to use a program called HJ-Split. You can find this free program here -->
http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/What HJ-split does is take your file, duplicates it and divides it up into smaller sections, these sections when re-joined will reproduce the original file you started with.
For example: Your movie is 20mb in size... when you divide it up into 6mb chunks you will end up with 4 files... (3 files @ 6mb {and} 1 file at 2mb) = 20mb (added up and now within the forums limit each) ...less then <9.77mb
HJ-Split automatically numbers the files in order. So when HJ-split is needed to re-join the files on another PC, they all go back together the same way.
1.) When you start this program, select "Split" from the main menu.
2.) Now select "Input File" and locate your file and select it.
3.) Change the Kb to Mb
4.) Enter the maximum file size but no larger then 9mb
5.) Click on "Split"
New files will be created next to the existing one with numbers attached... 001, 002,.. ect and will look different from the original except for the first one if it's an Mpg file.
* The number of files created will depend on how large your movie was, don't worry, the orginal file is still there un-touched.
* Don't panic because the new files are not shown as a media player file and wont play, that is normal. When someone downloads your movie, they need to obtain all the files and then join them using HJ-Split for the movie to play again.
* When uploading your files, start with the file tagged as- ( .001), then your next post- ( .002)... and so on.
* Adding the size of the split file to your post helps members know if it downloaded completely.
* All the files will be the same size in Kb, except for the last file.
* All the file names must remain the same, altering the files after splitting will prevent joining, so make sure to choose a suitable file name before splitting.
