So I was reading the rules that said, no hotlinks and I was thinking, "Ok, that sounds perfectly reasonable." Then I was browsing some topics that I had been searching eagerly for and finally found a promising one, but guess what? In that topic, someone had posted a link (to what may have very well been what I had been searching for), seeing as they didn't have the videos themselves.

Well, the link had been recently edited to be changed to that little error smiley thing, you know what I'm talking about? Right.

I think it would be nice to have a little sub-category somewhere where that specific rule did not apply. Like literally a category called "Hotlinks Here." And thus would be the place for all the links people have tried to offer. It would only serve use to people who WANT to go looking through sites that may or may not have what they are looking for.

There are categories present for those who want direct videos, there are categories present for those who want links, but there are none to speak of in the aforementioned hypothetical suggestion.

If you care to, vote in the poll for the idea I have proposed. if you say yes OR if you say no, please give your logic behind the answer. If you were indifferently concerned with the proposal, but still want to add your two cents, then please also do so.

this is why

Quote
2. we allow web addresses, the hotlinking applies to video and photos, we do not allow members to link to videos and photos, because we can't check to see if they are copyrighted, all video and photos posted here must be uploaded to our server

I think that the only thing that does make the rehoming format a bit difficult for some people is that it might be easier if it was species specific , I would be happy to modify it to be more specific if thats a route we could take
